Injured and sick employees can often become forgotten, as once they are out of sight, they are out of mind.  EAU worked with the Fiscal Management Bureau/Police Human Resources and received a monthly list of employees who are medically not able to work, and EAU detectives call each person on the list to check on them.  For many employees, this is the only contact they have with anyone affiliated with the Department.  EAU assists employees with rides to medical appointments, treatments, therapy, and will visit employees in the hospitals and at their homes.  During the check-ins, EAU detectives talk to employees about their leave banks and ask if they need help with requesting additional leave, financial assistance, or long-term disability (LTD) information.  EAU also assists employees on industrial leave, many times helping the employee if they cannot get through or get responses to workers’ compensation.
